FLY PT
Joint project that aims to train national companies for Urban Air Mobility.

Project name:  FLY PT – Mobilize the national aeronautical industry to disrupt the urban air transport of the future

Project summary: The FLY PT project aims to develop products and services in an integrated way and with a single global vision, based on a demonstrator of an urban and electric multimodal transport system. This new transport system combines an autonomous electric vehicle with an autonomous aerial vehicle through the coupling/uncoupling of a passenger compartment, simultaneously allowing horizontal and vertical mobility. FLY PT will create the necessary technological and knowledge base to address the revolution in air transport, including technologies related to the electrification of aircraft and autonomous systems.

Project objectives:

– Develop concepts for aircraft operation in this subsector, as well as geometric concepts, homogenizing the knowledge of the consortium and supporting the demonstrator to be developed with concrete results.
– To develop, at 1:1 scale, an innovative vehicle consisting of a remotely operated electric aerial component with a rotary wing, an autonomous electric vehicle, and a passenger cabin to transport up to 4 people and their cargo, with an autonomy of 30 min.
– Produce, integrate and test a 1:4 scale prototype of a vehicle derived from the 1:1 scale developments.
– Develop, produce and test a cabin that is representative of the use and that allows the demonstration in aesthetic mockup, at scale 1:1 of the aircraft.
– Develop the engineering, create a prototype and integrate a cabin structure, in composite materials, using hybrid optimization technologies (human / artificial intelligence) demonstrating new means of optimized design.
– Develop the engineering, create a prototype and test the interior of the cabin, including the instrumentation support system, seats, surfaces in contact with the occupants, demonstrating the consortium’s competences in the different domains applicable to this subsector.
– Develop the engineering, create a prototype and test the coupling system between the cabin and the flight module, at 1:1 scale, including the design and production of full-scale test physical means as well as the performance and analysis of the tests.
– Integrate the technical design (CAD) of the vehicle, whose development is distributed by different teams and PPSs, as well as the structural engineering analysis models (FEM), allowing a future production of the elements and the monitoring of the structural condition in operation and testing.
– Disseminate the scientific and technical advances achieved at various relevant international conferences/congresses and fairs, and in various scientific/technical journals.
