Portugal and India sign cooperation protocols in Defence sector
The Ministry for National Defence announced the signing of cooperation protocols between portuguese and indian companies.
As part of the portuguese President of the Republic’s state visit to India, three Portuguese companies signed collaboration agreements with Indian companies, in the defense sectors, involving aeronautical, space and shipbuilding technology, namely:
- CEiiA (Center of Excellence for Automotive Industry Innovation) and the Indian company HAL, with the purpose of developing new projects related to aeronautical and space technology;
- UAVision and VEDA Defense Systems, focusing on technology transfer, production and co-production of unmanned aerial systems, under which a training center for this type of equipment will also be created in India, with Portuguese know-how;
- Estaleiros Navais de Peniche and the GOA Shipyard, for the construction of speedboats in Portugal and India, using the technology of the Portuguese company, namely polymers in the vessels’s hulls.
The signing of these agreements, in India, was accompanied by the Deputy Minister of National Defence, Jorge Seguro Sanches, and by the Secretary of State for Internationalization, Eurico Brilhante Dias.
