The ESA Ministerial Workshop 2025, co-organised by AED Cluster Portugal and the Portuguese Space Agency, took place on 21 July 2025 at Lisbon’s Oceanário.
The event brought together institutional representatives, industry experts and strategic decision-makers for a joint reflection on national and European priorities ahead of the upcoming ESA Ministerial Council.
The opening session featured institutional addresses from Portugal Space and AED Cluster Portugal, followed by a strategic debate focused on preparations for the 2025 Council and the key orientations that will shape the sector’s future.
In the afternoon, a series of thematic sessions explored the challenges and opportunities across ESA’s main programme areas. Topics included Technology and Earth Observation, Telecommunications and Navigation, European Resilience from Space (ERS), Space Safety and Transportation, Science, Education and PRODEX, as well as Space Exploration and Commercialisation.
The workshop also created multiple networking opportunities, encouraging dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders across the space ecosystem.
This initiative reinforced Portugal’s commitment to a shared strategic vision for Europe’s space sector and contributed to the ongoing preparation of decisions that will define the next phase of ESA’s development.
