- The main event for the Aeronautics, Space and Defense industry in Portugal takes place from May 30th to June 2nd, with digital and in-person sessions (at the Taguspark Congress Center, in Oeiras).
- The 10th edition of the event will be attended by the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education; the Minister of Infrastructures; the Secretary of State for Economy; the Secretary of State for Defence; and the Secretary of State for Internationalization.
- The three branches of the Armed Forces will also be represented with the participation of CEMA (Navy), Admiral Henrique Gouveia e Melo, CEMFA (Air Force), General João Cartaxo Alves, and the EME Coordinator (Army), Major-General Paulo Neves de Abreu.
The AED Cluster Portugal (Portuguese Cluster for Aeronautics, Space and Defence Industries) is organizing, in partnership with the Oeiras City Council, the 10th Edition of the AED Days event that will take place later this month, between May 30th and June 2nd, at the Taguspark Congress Center, in Oeiras.
The event will bring together, once again, the entire Portuguese Aeronautics, Space and Defense industry, as well as representatives from major international companies and various institutional entities (national and European).
The 10th edition will be the largest yet, with more prepared activities (physical and digital), more speakers, and the expectation of exceeding 800 participants, which is the absolute record for the event. The big news is the addition of a Conference dedicated to the challenge of decarbonization, on the second day of the event: the Sustainable Aviation Talks. This will be the launching pad for discussion on the collective effort of the national Aeronautics, Space and Defense Cluster in the areas of SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel), Hydrogen for Aviation and Green Airports.
As Rui Santos, General Director of AED Cluster Portugal explains: “The AED Days are the most relevant national event for the Aeronautics, Space and Defence industry. It is a unique environment of proximity with the main entities in the sector, where moments of debate are created related to pertinent themes in the area – challenges, opportunities, new perspectives, the role of Portugal – and it is also here that business opportunities are explored, in sectors that have been growing exponentially and whose relevance to the day-to-day life of society is increasing”.
This year, the event has several speakers and special guests, such as the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Elvira Fortunato (by VTC), the Minister of Infrastructures, João Galamba (by VTC), the Secretary of State for Economy, Pedro Cilínio, the Secretary of State for Defense, Marco Capitão Ferrera, and the Secretary of State for Internationalization, Bernardo Ivo Cruz, and also the three branches of the Armed Forces: the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Admiral Henrique Gouveia e Melo, the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, General João Cartaxo Alves, and the Coordinator of the Army Staff, Major-General Paulo Neves de Abreu.
The Portuguese Cluster for Aeronautics, Space and Defence will also bring together in this edition several important players in this universe. It will feature speakers and procurement from major companies such as Airbus, Aernnova, BAE Systems, Damen, Embraer, Leonardo, Lockheed Martin, GALP, Thales, Navigator, and others.
During four days, there will be different activities:
– May 30th, with the high-level Conference, to discuss innovation in these sectors and Portugal’s role in the global ecosystem, and the Nerworking Dinner;
– May 31st, with the Sustainable Aviation Talks, a novelty in the event(! ) which aims to address the issue of decarbonization and understand what opportunities exist for the Portuguese industry to contribute to a more sustainable world, and the B2B Meetings;
– June 1st, with Workshops to address specific themes of the sectors, the B2B Meetings and the return of the Industrial Visits, which consist of a guided tour through the facilities of the largest Portuguese OEMs;
– June 2nd, again with the B2B Meetings and the AED Carreers, a job fair for the sector that is free of charge and reinforces a goal for the Cluster, which is to attract and retain talent for the Aeronautics, Space and Defense industries.
