Under an 827 million euro contract, signed with the Portuguese Government in 2019, Embraer will deliver to the Portuguese Air Force five new KC-390 planes.
OGMA (Embraer Group) announced, this Thursday, that the production of the first panel that will integrate the fuselage of the first KC-390 is now completed.
In a statement, OGMA notes that the “first of five Embraer KC-390 aircraft that will equip the Portuguese Air Force fleet is becoming a reality” and that “this is one of Embraer’s most ambitious projects”. The company from Alverca is “in charge of manufacturing the fuselage center, manufacture and assembly of the right and left sponsons as well as the depth rudders”.
Within the scope of the contract approved by the Council of Ministers last year, the first of these cargo and transport airplanes, substitutes for the Hercules C-130, is scheduled to be delivered to the Portuguese Air Force in February 2023, followed by one each year until February 2027.
